Current Courses on Offer in BirminghamCreative Reading and Writing. Group leader – Polly Wright Looking for a reading group with a difference? Ever thought you would like to go further than ordinary reading groups and analyse the craft of writing? Would you like to combine the pleasure of reading with the development of your own writing skills? If you have answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, this course is for you. At the beginning of the course, the group makes a selection of fictional texts they would like to explore. This selection typically includes a range of classic and modern texts, and includes different literary forms, such as prose, poetry and drama. We alternate between sessions devoted to writing and sessions in which we discuss the text. The writing workshops will introduce you to the selected author’s literary approach, which throws light on the way we consider the book when we discuss it the following week. The course includes outings to the theatre and guest speakers. This popular group has been running for six years. Don’t miss out on this exciting cultural opportunity!
